Alternative Testing

Depending on your disability, you may qualify for alternative testing accommodations. Some of the alternative testing arrangements may include the following:

Extended Time
There are two forms of extended time: unlimited time and double time. Unlimited time is only permitted for students with a disability that includes memory deficits or extreme pain. More commonly, students are permitted double time. These students are allowed a maximum of twice the amount of time given to the rest of the class. If the instructor is unable to make these arrangements, EAS staff will provide extended time in 1600 UGL. You must request this at least on week before the test date.

To comply with WSU's final exam week policy, all finals must be completed during final exam week. This is done to ensure that your grades are completed in a timely manner. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Scribes/Readers
A scribe is a person who writes or types for you because you are unable to write because of a disability. A reader is a person who reads the written word either in real time or on an audio tape. If you require a scribe or reader, extended time is recommended. You must request a scribe or reader at least one week in advance of the test date.

Technology
You may require assistive technology to complete an exam. EAS has study/testing rooms that contain adaptive equipment such as talking calculators, V-tek print magnifiers, tape recorders, computers with adaptive hardware and software. You will be allowed extended time when using assistive technology. You must request the use of any technology at least one week in advance of the test.
